Seoul Global High School was established in 2008 and is the first autonomous, public boarding school in South Korea with a focus on international affairs and social studies. The high school attracts a very small group of approximately 150 highly gifted students each year from all over South Korea through a rigorous admissions process.
SGHS runs a co-teaching system where Korean teachers and foreign teachers teach courses cooperatively. This system helps students attain higher academic achievement along with linguistic competence. The school provides various volunteer opportunities to students to cultivate character. Classes emphasize discussion and presentations, helping students build creative and critical thinking abilities essential for future global leadership.
Although most students¡¯ first language is Korean, they are expected to use English in classes and for casual conversations. All teachers are advised to use English while teaching in all subjects except Korean language and Korean History.
